Product description

'Brown' Mosasaur tooth in Matrix - 3.1 cm (1.22 inches)

This magnificent Mosasaur tooth measuring 3,1 cm (1,22 inch) was found in Morocco - in 2021. The fossil tooth comes from the mighty and feared Mosasaurus (Mosasaurus hoffmannii) which could reach a length of 18 metres and a weight of 5,500 kilos.

It was thought that the Mosasaur's teeth were incredibly sharp. However, this is incorrect. The Mosasaur had conical teeth with a blunted tip. The Mosasaurus was a frequent hunter. So it could just be that this tooth saw several hunts or maybe even fights. So this could mean that this tooth carries with it a wonderful and unknown story.

The Mosasaur tooth is complete and features a beautiful deep brown colour, ranging from light to dark brown. It is quite a large tooth when you consider how big this saurus could grow. This tooth is incredibly well preserved despite its millions of years.

Important: the Mosasaur tooth is 100% natural (nothing has been restored/improved).

Insured shipment: we pack and ship the tooth carefully and all our packages are insured by us. This means: no risk for you.

Meaning of 'Mosasaurus'

'Mosasaurus' also known as the Maas lizard. was once the first found in the Netherlands in the area of the river Meuse. The first find was probably in 1766. Teeth may have been found earlier but it was in that year that the reptile was identified. The oldest teeth date back 65 to 75 million years. In addition to the teeth, a skull was recovered. This was found back in the Netherlands, in the Maas river. This has allowed scientists to create a stunning picture of this mega-sized saurus.
